When designer Marcia Maizel-Clarke recognized the need for jewelry that speaks, she founded Dogeared Jewels & Gifts in 1991 and created the original word-jewelry and charms. The response to these and the success of the Make a Wish series of necklaces gave birth to a trendsetting, innovative family of products that capture the magic of words, symbols, wishes and dreams, a magic that has created international attention.

Dogeared has enjoyed tremendous growth in the past 16 years and now numbers over 50 employees that design, produce, and market three product lines per year, which are distributed around the world. The company’s understanding of design, fashion marketing, and the global retail business, coupled with significant internal investments, have made them the market leader that they are today. These strategic investments include participation at important industry trade shows, expansion in human resources and facilities, an expanded distribution network, a wholesale and a consumer website that is celebrating its one year anniversary.
These major efforts have all been done in accordance with Dogeared’s philosophy:
"We started the company with a mission to inspire positive energy and communicate ideals that are important to us. Our success has been created by being true to our vision and on building and developing our product, our employees and our partners. These efforts have always provided ideas, inspirations and talent; attaining our major business goals and objectives, while still bestowing our infamous Dogeared magic."
Dogeared’s unique, custom cast jewels are regularly featured in fashion, lifestyle, and celebrity publications, in films and in television shows. Dogeared is sold by trendsetting retailers around the world, including Nordstrom, Fred Segal, Sundance, Intuition, and Red Envelope. All Dogeared products are handcrafted in Los Angeles.
